Will RoadGuard fit my car?

RoadGuard fits most sedans, SUVs and trucks with front and rear headrests to anchor to. The seat platform measures 51.57 in / 131 cm wide by 27.16 in / 69 cm deep, with a 22.44 in / 57 cm seat-back panel and 15.74 in / 40 cm side panels. Unfolded flat the cover measures 80.9 x 64.56 in / 205.5 x 164 cm, and it folds down to 27.55 x 18.5 x 2.75 in for storage. Measure the width of your back seat before ordering. Unusually narrow, wide or custom rear seating may not be compatible.

Is the hard bottom comfortable for my dog?

The platform is rigid underneath and cushioned on top. Soft cotton padding sits above and below the three zip-in PP support panels, under quilted 600D Oxford fabric, so your dog gets a firm, level surface with a soft finish rather than the bare board some hard-bottom covers use. Older dogs and dogs that like to burrow often settle faster with a familiar blanket laid over it, or with the RoadGuard Comfort Pad, which is sized to cover the seat section of the platform.

My dog slides around on our current cover. Will this help?

Yes. Soft hammock-style covers sag in the middle, which is what makes dogs slide. RoadGuard stays flat and level, which gives your dog solid footing for the whole drive, and the underside is non-slip so the cover itself does not shift on your upholstery. Owners consistently report calmer rides, especially with anxious and larger dogs.

Will it work for a large or senior dog?

Absolutely. The reinforced PP platform supports up to 440 lb / 200 kg, and it bridges the rear footwell, which does two things for bigger and older dogs. It creates a longer, flatter surface to stretch out on, and it removes the high step up that a traditional hammock creates.

Can two dogs use it at once?

Yes, provided both dogs fit comfortably and their combined weight stays below 440 lb.

Does it protect the doors as well as the seats?

Yes. RoadGuard includes protective side panels that shield the inner door cards and window trim from paws and nails, held upright by the two included length-adjustable door straps. You do not need separate door protectors.

Can my dog see me while I drive?

Yes. A zippered mesh window in the seat-back panel lets your dog see you and lets you check on them, which takes the edge off separation anxiety on longer drives. Zip it closed when you want the back seat fully enclosed. Two storage pockets on the side panels hold treats, leads and waste bags.

What comes in the box?

One RoadGuard Dog Seat Extender, three removable rigid base panels that insert into the base and zip closed, one adjustable dog seatbelt, two length-adjustable door support straps, adjustable headrest straps with snap buckles, built-in rigid seat anchors, a zippered mesh viewing window and two side storage pockets.

Does RoadGuard come with a seatbelt?

Yes. Each package includes one adjustable dog seatbelt that clips to your dog's harness and to the vehicle's seatbelt buckle. It is a containment and convenience feature, not a crash-tested restraint. For travel safety, pair it with a properly fitted harness and a crash-tested restraint, and never clip anything to a collar.

Using RoadGuard

How long does installation take?

A few minutes. Unfold the cover across the rear seat, attach the rear and front straps around the headrests, push the rigid seat anchors between the seat cushions, and clip the side panels into place with the snap buckles until the platform sits flat and level.

Can a passenger still sit in the back?

Yes. One side folds down to expose a full rear passenger seat while the other side stays protected for your dog.

Can I still use the rear seatbelts?

Yes. RoadGuard has built-in buckle openings so the rear seatbelts stay accessible with the cover installed. If you are fitting a child seat, use the fold-down side to keep the belt path and anchor points clear.

Is RoadGuard a crash restraint?

No, and we would be cautious of any seat cover that claims to be one. RoadGuard is containment and interior protection: it keeps your dog on the back seat and the mess off your upholstery. For travel safety, use a properly fitted harness with a crash-tested restraint, never clip anything to a collar.

Care and cleaning

Is RoadGuard waterproof?

Yes. The top surface, the side panels and the extended footwell platform are all built from waterproof 600D Oxford fabric, so drool, wet paws, spills and accidents sit on top of the cover instead of soaking into your seats.

How do I get dog hair off it?

Vacuum it in place, or unclip it, shake it out and vacuum it outside the car. A lint roller works well on the quilted surface, which releases hair far more easily than fabric upholstery does.

How do I clean spills and mud?

Wipe the surface down with a damp cloth. For heavier mud, unclip the cover and rinse it with a hose nozzle, then air-dry it completely before reinstalling. Avoid bleach, harsh chemicals and high heat. The three PP support panels unzip out of the base for cleaning or storage, so remove them first if you ever need to deep-clean the cover. We still do not recommend machine washing the assembled cover.

Muttrek currently offers free standard tracked shipping to supported destinations.

How long does delivery take?

Orders are processed within 1-3 business days and estimated delivery is 3-7 business days after processing.

Can items arrive in separate packages?

Yes. Some orders may be shipped separately and can have more than one tracking number.

Returns and support

What is your return policy?

Eligible returns may be requested within 30 days of delivery. Items must meet the conditions listed in our Return and Refund Policy.

What if my order arrives damaged or incorrect?

Contact support within 30 days at support@muttrek.com with your order number and clear photos or video of the product, the packaging and the shipping label.

Can I change or cancel my order?

Contact us as soon as possible at support@muttrek.com. We will try to update or cancel the order, but changes cannot be guaranteed once processing or shipping has begun.
