The hard bottom is what keeps your dog steady. The Comfort Pad is what makes them want to lie down on it.

Every owner of a hard-bottom back seat extender ends up doing the same thing: folding a blanket over the platform so the dog will actually settle. It bunches, it slides, and it's in the footwell by the second turn. The RoadGuard™ Comfort Pad is that layer done properly — cut to the size of the platform and built to stay where you put it.

  • Cut to the platform, not folded to fit. 51 x 23.6 inches — the exact width of the RoadGuard™ seat section.
  • Paws stay planted. Deep, high-density plush gives claws something to grip instead of skidding on every corner.
  • Non-slip quilted backing. A silicone-dot base holds onto the platform underneath, so the pad stays put.
  • Machine washable. No shrinking, no fading. Cold wash, low tumble, back in the car the same day.
  • Kind to older joints. High-resiliency fill cushions hips and elbows without lifting your dog into the window line.
  • Three colours. Black, Grey and Brown, matched to the RoadGuard™ range.

RoadGuard™ Comfort Pad — Plush Dog Bed for Car Back Seat Extenders

The Comfort Pad measures 51 x 23.6 in (130 x 60 cm) — sized to the seat section of the RoadGuard™ Dog Seat Extender, so it lies flat edge to edge with nothing to tuck and nothing to re-fold every trip.

It also drops straight onto most standard hard-bottom back seat extenders and rear seat platforms in sedans, SUVs and trucks. If your platform is narrower than 51 in, the pad will sit slightly proud at the edges — worth measuring first if you are fitting it to another brand.

One size. Three colours: Black, Grey and Brown.

Top surface: high-density plush faux fur, non-shedding. Fill: high-resiliency PP cotton that cushions hips and elbows without lifting your dog up into the window line. Base: quilted fabric with silicone non-slip dots that grip the smooth surface of a seat cover.

Care: machine wash cold, tumble dry low, do not bleach. It washes whole — there is no cover to unzip. No shrinking, no fading, and the pile does not shed into your upholstery.

The Comfort Pad is the soft layer, not the waterproof one — that is deliberate. Your RoadGuard™ underneath takes the spills; the pad goes in the machine.

There is no installation. Lay the pad plush-side up on top of your RoadGuard™ or back seat extender and let the silicone-dot backing grip. Nothing to strap, clip or tuck.

Need the back seat for a passenger? Lift the pad out in one piece, drop it in the boot, and put it back afterwards.

If your dog has been refusing the hard platform, expect a trip or two of adjustment. Laying a familiar-smelling blanket on top for the first drive speeds that up considerably. Most dogs settle within two journeys because the surface finally gives under them and their claws have something to grip.

The Comfort Pad is not a crash restraint, and no seat pad is. Use it alongside a properly fitted harness and the Safety Travel Buckle — never clipped to a collar.

1 x RoadGuard™ Comfort Pad in your chosen colour — Black, Grey or Brown. One size, 51 x 23.6 in.

That is the whole kit. No straps, clips or hardware, because none are needed — the pad lies on top of your platform and the silicone-dot backing does the rest.

Soft Enough That They Actually Lie Down

A hard-bottom platform is what keeps your dog steady — but bare, it is still a hard floor, and plenty of dogs stand the whole way rather than settle on it. The Comfort Pad is the layer that changes that: deep plush their claws can grip, high-resiliency fill under the joints, and a non-slip base so the whole thing stays exactly where you put it.

Stays Where You Put It

A silicone-dot quilted base grips the smooth surface underneath. No sliding into the footwell, no bunching against the door — which is exactly what a household blanket does.

Kind to Older Joints

High-resiliency fill cushions hips and elbows without lifting your dog into the window line — enough padding to matter, thin enough not to change how they ride.

    Questions About RoadGuard™

Yes. RoadGuard™ uses reinforced composite support panels to create a flat, stable platform over the rear footwell, not a hammock that sags in the middle. Your dog gets solid footing instead of a sling that shifts under them on every turn.

Yes. One side of RoadGuard™ can be folded down to expose a rear passenger seat while the remaining section stays protected for your dog.

Yes, provided the dogs fit comfortably and their combined weight remains below the stated 280 lb capacity.

Yes. The top surface, the side panels and the extended footwell platform are all waterproof, so drool, wet paws, spills and accidents sit on top of the cover instead of soaking into your seats. Wipe the surface down with a damp cloth and the mess is gone.

It can physically clip to a collar, but we recommend attaching it to a properly fitted dog harness to distribute force more safely.

The platform is rigid underneath and cushioned on top. Six layers of PP cotton padding under quilted Oxford fabric give your dog a firm, level surface with a soft finish, rather than the bare board some hard-bottom covers use. Older dogs and dogs that like to burrow often settle faster with a familiar blanket laid over it.

Yes. RoadGuard™ has built-in buckle openings so the rear seatbelts stay accessible with the cover installed. If you are also fitting a child seat, use the fold-down side so the belt path and anchor points stay clear.

No, and we would be cautious of any seat cover that claims to be one. RoadGuard™ is containment and interior protection: it keeps your dog on the back seat and the mess off your upholstery. For crash protection, use the included Safety Travel Buckle with a properly fitted harness. Never clip a travel buckle to a collar.
